Bargain Ostrich Feathers - Seconds

These are #2 grade (seconds) ostrich feathers. These feathers are ones which do not quite qualify as #1 premium. Fibers may be thinner and/or less wide than is most desirable. It may have more stress marks or small "bites" here and there. No damaged feathers, broken tops, broken stems, or large bites. This grade is a great value for layering and overlapped designs where the individual feather is not closely noted. Common uses for #2 grade are for theater productions, fans, costumes, headdresses, vase arrangements for home and event decor, wedding decoration, and themed party decoration.

Ostrich feathers are graded according to their flaws as well as length and overall quality. Minor imperfections like stress marks,minor missing sections, imperfect dye lot, thin fibers, and several others will lead to a feather being graded as a second.

Seconds are a popular bargain choice for use in applications where the flaws do not matter or can be easily concealed. Common uses for #2 grade are for theater productions, fans, costumes, headdresses, vase arrangements for home and event decor, wedding decoration, and themed party decoration.Some costumers and milliners will lay one feather upon another attaching the stems with fine wire or glue to create a full feather that disguises each other's flaw.
